SUMMARY:FLL-C: Robotics is For Everyone Qualifier @ Chandler High School
DESCRIPTION:The following email was sent to coaches on 12/01 by Tourname
nt Director Rick Kale.Hi Coaches and Teams!Your big day is almost here.
Below is a “comprehensive” list of information for you as you do fin
 al preparations.School address: 350 N. Arizona Avenue\, Chandler\, AZ 85
225• Important Note: ** TBD … still confirming exact parking locatio
n\, I will send out an update later in the week along with an annotated
map.Materials to bring with you for check-in:• Team Roster (should be
printable from the Team Registration System)• Team Information Sheet (
PDF file attached to fill out\; bring 1 copy)• See attached “Packing
List Suggestions.docx” for additional ideas of stuff to bring with yo
 u.Event Schedule• 7:30 am to 8:30 am – Team registration – nearby
pit entrance• 8:30 am to 9:00 am – Coaches meeting – cafeteria (co
mpetition area)• 9:15 am – Start of Judging Sessions and Robot Match
es (practice round) – various classrooms and cafeteria• 10:35 am –
Start of Robot Matches (official rounds)• 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm – Lun
ch [teams are on their own for arranging lunch]• 2:00 pm – Official
Rounds finish• We can do optional additional unofficial robot round(s)
and/or potentially another activity while the judges deliberate.• Abo
ut 3:45 pm – Closing ceremony – cafeteria• Full event should be co
mplete by 4:45 pmOther Notes on the Event• FIRST® LEGO® League event
s are very ‘scripted’ in terms of time. Each team has multiple sessi
ons that occur at specific times. It is very important to be on time/ahe
ad of schedule for your judging and robot matches. If there is a conflic
t\, always make sure the judging session takes priority (robot matches c
an be made up later).• If you bring your own mat for practicing during
downtime between your robot matches and judging sessions\, please make
sure that it does not block pathways or create a hazard in an emergency.
Practice tables will be available in the pits for all teams to share (t
hough it may get crowded).• This event is open to the families of your
participants. The main viewable portion of the event is being held in a
school cafeteria\, so there should be enough space (but it is hard to s
ay for certain\, depending on how many additional people show up per tea
m).• Team Information Sheet (attached\; bring one copy\; team to provi
de to judges at their judging session\; helps the judges with details ab
out your team)• Review the packing list suggestionsLunch• The iRise
Foundation will provide FREE Pizza lunch.• The pits and robot game are
in areas of the school that are friendly to food/drink\; however\, plea
se remember to keep your pit areas clean. We are borrowing this facility
for the day and must return it cleaner than when we arrived. An action f
or you…• Please confirm your team’s name with me. Informs me that
you received this e-mail\, and sometimes team members have decided to ch
ange their names after the initial registration (which is the info I hav
e). This will ensure our announcers\, referees\, judges\, and other volu
nteers call out the proper name (hard to correct all the sheets of paper
on event day).• Please let me know if you are attending this qualifie
r with multiple teams from the same school but different coach names (th
e same coach’s name for multiple teams is easy to see). I generally or
ganize the team pits by numerical team number\, but I will put the same
teams together in case they share supplies.• There is an event website
that mirrors the information provided via e-mail: https://azfll.enginee
 ring.asu.edu/events/robotics-is-for-everyone-chandler-high-school-qualif
ier/\n\n\n\nAlso\, we are still in need of a few volunteers to help make
this event run smoothly. If you know of anyone who would enjoy voluntee
ring during the event\, please direct them to sign up directly via the F
IRST Volunteer Express Invitation link: https://my.firstinspires.org/Exp
 ressVolunteer/landing-page/ce8f40f5-91b0-11f0-8ded-00505699b848. Follow
the steps to log in with your FIRST account or register for one.I am exp
ecting to send one more e-mail (likely Thursday night) that will contain
your individual team schedule as well as any last-minute clarifications
.Let me know if you have any questions … or if you think I missed anyt
 hing. 😉Minor note\, I only have the lead coach's e-mail … please sh
are with your assistant coach.E-mail is the best way to contact me\, but
I apologize in advance that I am usually unable to respond until the ev
ening.Have a great week. I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!-
