FLL-C: East Mesa Qualifier @ ASU Polytechnic Campus
East Mesa Qualifier is at ASU Poly in SE Mesa: 7001 E Williams Field Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212. (The campus is located just east of Power on Williams Field Rd). The Robot games and Pits will be in the Cooley Ballroom.

Team check-in: 8:30-9:00 am
Coaches meeting: 9:00 am
Opening Ceremonies: 9:30 am
Practice Rounds start: 9:40 am
Judging: 9:25 am – 12:00 pm
Competition Rounds: 10 am – 2:00 pm
Lunch: 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm
Closing Ceremonies: 2:30 pm *

The Robot Game is free and open to the public, starting at 9:30 AM. The judging portion of the event is closed to the public. Coaches and/or parents should supervise all teams throughout the event. Please encourage your team and families to respect the ASU campus and its rules, as well as the tournament rules.
Locations:
- Team check-in will be in front of the Cooley Ballroom (Student Union Building) starting at 8:30 am on Saturday.
- Team pits will be in the Cooley Ballroom.
- Robot Matches will also be in the Cooley Ballroom.
- Judging will be across the quad in assigned classrooms.
- The easiest parking is probably in Lot 10.
- There are bathrooms available in the Student Union.
- We hope to hold closing ceremonies at 2:30 pm and be done by 3:30 pm, but the exact timing depends on the length of the judge deliberations.
- Families and Friends are welcome to attend the tournament! We suggest letting them know when your team’s robot rounds are, as these are the most interesting parts to watch.

Check-in:
- Teams need to turn in a printout from the FIRST system of their completed Team Roster, showing that all members and coaches have completed their FIRST waivers.
- Only 1coach needs to check the team in. The rest of the team can get set up in their pit.
- Visitors and families do not need to check in.
Competition:
- Each team will have 1 practice round and 3 competition rounds in the official robot game. Only the highest score in the competition rounds will count towards team rankings.
- Each team will have one 30-minute judging session during which they will present their project and robot design. Teams may not have any help from coaches or adults during the judging session.
- The match and judging schedule, with team-specific times, will be released the day before the tournament.
- During judging, there is no time to present a core values poster. However, your team(s) are welcome to bring one if they choose to.
- Each team will have one table for their home base/pit during the event.
- There will be 15 teams competing at this event.
- We will have 3 practice tables available for teams to share.
Awards:
- To be eligible to win awards/advance to state, your whole team needs to participate in all 4 areas of the competition: robot game, robot design, core values, and innovation project.
- Winning an award does not automatically qualify you for the State.
- Advancing teams will be determined by the top overall rankings in all 4 areas combined (robot game and judged categories)
- The AZ State competition will take place on Saturday, January 17th, at ASU West in Glendale. 4 teams from our competition will qualify for State.
Food:
- Teams will have an hour lunch break around Noon.
- There are seating areas to eat in the Student Union, right next door to the Cooley Ballroom.
- Campus restaurants will be closed, but there are multiple restaurants within a mile or two of campus. Power Road, north of campus, has various options.
- Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Team members may want to bring a few dollars to spend during the day.
- Snacks are allowed in Pits, but please keep the areas free of trash and clean up your pit before the end of the day.
FLL Challenge teams can range in size from 2 to 10 members, all between the ages of 9 and 14. Teams will need to submit a team roster printed out from their dashboard in firstinspires.org when they check in on Saturday morning. All team members and coaches need to have their consent forms completed online and marked as complete on the roster. Start now to ensure all your members are in the FIRST system and have their consent forms finalized.
